Hugh MacLeod’s cartoons have played an important role in my life recently. There are day’s when his art hits me straight between the eye’s. Some of my favorites so far have been, Love begets Love and Love is……..Almost as hard as Forgivness. Today I’m sharing his art and the whole post he wrote as an inspiration for myself and for anyone reading this to keep taking those baby steps towards living your life as you dream it inside of you.

“We measure our internal selves against the external selves of others, and all that does is make us unhappy.

Yet, like I said in the book, the more one practices his or her TRUE craft, whatever that may be, the more peace one gains introspectively.

Some of us still need reminding, though, as it is our nature to compare ourselves with those around us. As nice as another person may appear outwardly, you’ll never quite know what’s going on inwardly. Perhaps they are comparing themselves to you…

This is for all of us to reflect on, especially after the untimely death of Steve Jobs, a true visionary. As we share this little piece of art with those around us, reflect on something Steve said in his speech to the 2005 graduating class at Stanford University and pass it along, especially to those who need reminding:

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living some else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma–which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your intuition.”
