Adversity in Wiki is translated as:

1. The state of adverse conditions; state of misfortune or calamity.
2. An event that is adverse; calamity.

Monday’s I blog on people I’ve come across that have experienced Adversity and chosen to Thrive. Recently I’ve been obsessing over the word adversity and how it can differ. The subtle impact of simply not living a forfilling life can bring on strong adversity that probably sits at the root of my deepest fear……..”No one grows old by living, only by losing interest in living”. That place in which some of us live, in my case it was years, can lead to self inflicted adversity. Living in a ground hog way and not making any changes to figure out if it’s even possible to Thrive.

Sherry Ott left her cubicle in NYC to travel the world at the age of 36. She had no big plan or clear idea of how it would turn out, all she knew was that the way she was living was not exciting and the deeper longing within her to explore the world shouted so loud that the risk of not doing something about it was more painful than staying put.

Adversity can be subtle, it can eat away at our souls until it becomes not so subtle. Often it manifests in a physical illness, mostly we know, we know deep down inside of ourselves when there is a calling to do something that we can’t explain. Today’s post is my wish to highlight this type of “subtle” adversity. We need not loose a limb or experience abuse or any other catastrophic incident. Adversity within ourselves can be as soul destroying and powerful without all the drama. Listening to our desires and having the courage to step out and find solutions without having a clear path, that’s the hard and most rewarding part.

“Some Stories don’t have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what’s going to happen next. Delicious ambiguity” – Gilda Radner
