The Hope Centre – Adoption JNB

by TanyaMonteiro on 05/02/2012

In early February when I arrived in SA a friend of a friends took me to visit the 12 children at the Hope Centre in Johannesburg. One of many many adoption homes in and around SA. They have a door on the side of the wall where you can lift the lid and place the baby down, there is an alarm that is triggered if a baby is delivered and the ladies come down to collect it. Baby’s come to them from birth to about 2 years of age. They take care of them till the children find suitable homes and move on with their lives. As Im writing this my eyes are welling up with tears, its hard to imagine that children come into this world daily without love, without a home and without any security. My respect goes out to these ladies who care for the children every day and then find the courage to be happy for them to find a family and make a life of their own.
